January Newsletter

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. We are about to enter the second half of the school year and we have many great events coming up, so please mark your calendars!

Our next meeting will be this Friday, January 11th from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. at the District Office. We will discuss the overall middle school experience with Shelly Nielsen, Executive Director for School Administration (K-8). She will share information about the experiences that are common for all middle school students across the district, including the new curriculum changes that were rolled out this year. We hope to see you there! February's meeting was originally intended to focus on the overall Blue Valley gifted education experience to round out our series, however we have had a change of plans. Instead, we will be covering the extremely important topic of suicide prevention. We hope you can make the time to come to this very special discussion with a group of Blue Valley psychologists and counselors who will talk about how to recognize the signs of suicide and what to do about it. Details are below. The BVPAGE Summer Opportunities Fair is also coming up on Thursday, February 28th and we have already lined up several new types of camps to check out, including outdoor STEM, chess, cooking, and a camp designed just for girls! Keep any eye out for details that will we send out toward the end of this month. We will also be releasing details for spring SENG sessions soon as well, so stay tuned! We are looking forward to seeing you all next Friday!

Amy Gallentine, 2018-2019 BVPAGE President
